For the third consecutive year, Co-op tasked us with creating and managing their flagship event – the Pioneer Awards – celebrating supplier achievements and strengthening key relationships.

Not only did Co-op want to host the event at the newly launched Co-op Live Arena, but they also wanted to completely reimagine the experience to reflect their bold, modern brand positioning. The event also needed to raise significant funds for their charity partner, Barnardo’s.

What we delivered

Inspired by the venue’s musical credentials, we crafted an immersive experience modelled on a contemporary music awards show. The theme of ‘Home’ tied the brand, venue and message together – celebrating Co-op’s return to its Manchester roots and its community spirit.
Guests were welcomed with a VIP blue carpet arrival, where Co-op hosts Claire and Obi conducted live interviews. An iconic DJ set from Bez kicked off the party at the drinks reception, bringing a nostalgic Mancunian soundtrack to life.
Inside the arena bowl, an urban string orchestra performed a medley of Northern classics, setting a powerful tone as guests took their seats. The main show was hosted by Sara Cox and Reggie Yates, who brought charm, energy and fun to the night. Award presentations were spaced out to keep the energy high and give room to shine a spotlight on Barnardo’s, driving fundraising throughout the night.
Headline entertainment came from McFly, who delivered an exclusive performance before Sara Cox returned to close out the evening on the decks at the afterparty.
